machining – stock shapes
Acetal (Homopolymer)
The acetal homopolymer is a high-quality plastic that offers the best of both worlds. This material bridges the gap between metal and plastic due to its excellent balance of properties.
Acrylic
Acrylic is a lightweight and weather-resistant thermoplastic. It is strong and easy to cut, saw, shape, and weld. Its flat sheets are stable in size and break-resistant. They won’t shatter like glass under pressure, but if subjected to impact, they will break into larger pieces, unlike glass, which can cause injury. Transparent acrylic is used to reduce glare and thermal energy transmittance.
Cast Nylon 6 – Heat Stabilized
Cast Nylon 6 – Heat Stabilized
Heat-stabilized cast nylon 6 features a special heat stabilizer that limits the number of physical properties that deteriorate at high temperatures. This nylon allows the material to function at approximately 10% higher temperatures than standard grades. Therefore, heat-stabilized cast nylon 6 operating at 200°F will still have similar physical properties as a standard grade running at 185°F.
Cast Nylon 6 – MoS2 Filled
MoS2-filled cast nylon 6 is popular among dry lubricant-filled bearing models. With its improved crystallinity and wear resistance, it offers better compressive strength.
Cast Nylon 6 – Unfilled
Unfilled cast nylon 6 products are successful in various applications. They are lightweight and offer excellent wear resistance, high tensile strength, and elasticity when not lubricated.
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride)
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride)
Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is readily available and easy to work with, including machining, welding, and forming. Because of its excellent corrosion resistance at high temperatures, CPVC is ideally suited for self-supporting constructions where temperatures as high as 200°F (93°C) are present.
Delrin® – Acetal Homopolymer
Delrin® – Acetal Homopolymer
Delrin is an advanced acetal homopolymer with high tensile strength and toughness. It also has low moisture absorption and good chemical resistance, making it ideal for many industrial applications.
Duratron® PBI (Polybenzimidazole)
Duratron® PBI (Polybenzimidazole)
Duratron PBI has the highest mechanical properties of any thermoplastic above 400°F. It is ideal for high-heat bushings, connectors, and valve seats because it resists wear and impact loads at extreme temperatures.
ECTFE (Ethylene-Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
ECTFE (Ethylene-Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
ECTFE is one of the strongest types of fluoropolymer and has the durability of nylon. It has excellent mechanical properties and low permeability to liquids, gases, and vapors. ECTFE is resistant to most chemicals except for hot amines and ketones.
Ertalyte® – PET-P
Ertalyte® – PET-P
Polyethylene terephthalate is a semi-crystalline, unreinforced polymer that has excellent wear resistance. Additionally, it has low coefficients of friction and high flexural modulus, adding versatility to its uses. PET also exhibits high dimensional stability, making parts virtually leak-proof.
Halar® – ECTFE (Ethylene-Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
Halar® – ECTFE (Ethylene-Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
Halar is a high molecular weight thermoplastic polymer made from Ethylene-ChloroTriFluoro-Ethylene (ECTFE). Halar has excellent corrosion and chemical resistance and can withstand continued exposure to higher temperatures. It performs well in many applications up to 300°F (149°C) degrees and has high corrosion resistance.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)
High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is an economical and versatile plastic easily cut, welded, machined, or fabricated. This material has good chemical resistance and low moisture resistance. It also offers outstanding strength and impact properties.
Nylon 6/6 – MoS2 Filled
Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2) filled nylon 6/6 improves strength and rigidity. MoS2 has a lower coefficient of linear thermal expansion than unfilled nylon, which means that parts maintain better fit and clearances and are less likely to seize up when used in bearings.
Nylon 6/6 – Unfilled
The FDA and USDA-compliant unfilled extruded nylon 6/6 is the most rigid and has one of the highest melting points among modified nylons. It’s primarily used for food contact parts and can withstand high wear, abrasion, and vibration.
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Bearing Grade
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Bearing Grade
High-performance Polyamide-imide (PAI) can maintain excellent mechanical and wear properties at more than 500⁰F. Bearing-grade PAI is best for bearing applications at high loads and low speeds.
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Glass Filled
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Glass Filled
Glass-filled PAI is a 30% glass-filled grade, which is compression molded with superior stiffness and dimensional stability. Available in various custom tube, ring, rod, or plate sizes.
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Unfilled
PAI (Polyamide-imide) – Unfilled
Unfilled PAI is a tough and versatile structural grade with excellent electrical properties, making it a good choice for challenging applications. It’s useful in a broad range of temperatures.
PEI (Polyetherimide) – Glass Filled
PEI (Polyetherimide) – Glass Filled
When it comes to strength and stability, ULTEM® is a superior choice. Glass-filled ULTEM has both greater tensile strength and rigidity than unfilled PEI. It also provides better dimensional stability.
PET-P (Polyethylene Terephthalate Polyester)
PET-P (Polyethylene Terephthalate Polyester)
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic polymer with outstanding wear resistance and excellent dimensional stability. Its low coefficient of friction, high flexural modulus, and excellent wear resistance make it a very versatile material for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts.
PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)
Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) is a high-performance fluoropolymer that performs exceptionally well in extreme environments. It exhibits the typical characteristics of PTFE and can be melted down for processing.
